Lawyer: Video Disputes Baltimore Police Claims

A lawyer representing a man shot by Baltimore police in 2013 says a newly obtained video of the incident contradicts an officer’s account of what led to the shooting.

In charging documents, a police officer wrote that Shaun Mouzon was shot because he drove his car at officers. But attorney A. Dwight Pettit says surveillance camera video shows officers firing before the car stopped in traffic moves.

Eventually, Mouzon crashed and was hospitalized in critical condition. The three officers who opened fire were cleared of any wrongdoing.

In 2014, Mouzon sued the department and several officers. An amended suit filed this weeks alleges a “pattern and practice” of brutality by the police department.
