Jennifer Cramblett, a lesbian White woman who resides in Ohio is suing the Midwest Sperm Bank based in Downers Grove, IL for wrongful birth and breach of warranty, citing the emotional and economic losses she has suffered, according to the Chicago Tribune.

In 2011, the Midwest Sperm Bank delivered the vials of an African-American donor’s sperm as opposed to the White donor the couple ordered. Cramblett noticed the mix-up in April of 2012 during her pregnancy.

The couple’s daughter, Payton, now 2-years old and biracial, is being raised in an all-White community, which the mothers stated has been difficult due to their limited knowledge of African-American culture.

An excerpt from the lawsuit reads:

“Jennifer bonded with Payton easily and she and Amanda love her very much. Even so, Jennifer lives each day with fears, anxieties and uncertainty about her future and Payton’s future.”

It has been reported and acknowledged that an apology letter along with a refund check was sent to Cramblett and her partner from the Midwest Sperm Bank after discovering the mistake.
