John Wall Pays Tribute to Young Friend
It was an emotional game for Washington Wizards point guard John Wall on Monday evening.
Though the game ended in a victory with Wall scoring the final 10 points in a double-overtime, his heart and mind were focused on the young friend he had lost that morning.
Six-year-old Damiyah Telemaque-Nelson fought a tough battle with Burkitt lymphoma and sadly passed away from the illness on December 8.
Wall and Miyah had developed a friendship over the course of a year and kept in touch via FaceTime. During a post-game interview, the athlete couldn’t hold back tears and emotions as he spoke about the loss of Miyah.
In March, Wall orchestrated a social campaign for Miyah to meet Nicki Minaj and receive one of her pink wings. That dream was granted and Nicki paid tribute to the little darling via Instagram:
Condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of the Miyah Telemaque-Nelson.
