MLB Star Taunted, Called Racial Slurs At Game
Chicago Cubs right fielder Jason Heyward was taunted with insults and racial slurs by angry Cardinals fans, New York Daily News reports.
Heyward, who played for the Cardinals for one season, was allegedly called the N-word by multiple Cardinals fans. Crowd mics picked up the foul language.
ESPN said the network is continuing to review, but “have yet to pick up on any tangible specifics from the ESPN game audio.”
Heyward said he was fine with being booed after the game.
“If somebody boos me here, that means they were not happy to see me leave,” he told ESPN. “I’m kind of glad that people weren’t happy to see me leave. The fans should enjoy it, and we’re going to enjoy it.”
He now plays for the Chicago Cubs.
