Interview: Pat Houston on Bobbi Kristina’s Death

For the first time since Bobbi Kristina Brown’s untimely death in July, her aunt, Pat Houston, is speaking out.

Brown’s death struck a painful blow to the Houston and Brown families, and they are still coping with the tragic loss.

Pat, who at one point was like a second mother to Bobbi Kristina, says she was working on getting her niece help before the then 21-year-old was found unconscious in the bathtub of her Atlanta home.

“When we really found out that Krissy was in trouble, we were really making plans to do something about it,” Pat said in an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight, “but it came too late.”

Pat also spoke about her relationship with Bobbi Kristina.

“Where the world saw that she was angry and mad at me, she was texting me all along,” Pat says. “I really tried to show her [that] I’m going to do this to let you know that you don’t have to be afraid of anything. I got you.'”

“External attraction can really cause problems,” she adds, referring to the romantic relationship between Bobbi Kristina and Nick.

A lawsuit alleges that Bobbi Kristina’s boyfriend Nick Gordon, injected her with a “toxic mixture” before she was found.

Nick Gordon’s lawyers denied the allegations and lawsuit, calling it “slanderous and meritless.”

“Nick has been heartbroken and destroyed over the loss of his love and it’s shameful that such baseless allegations have been presented publicly,” the lawyers said in a statement sent to ET. “Nick has engaged civil counsel and intends to defend the lawsuit vigorously and expose it for what it is: a fictitious assault against the person who loved Krissy most.”
