Hudson Family Killer Speaks Out
The man convicted of killing the family of famed entertainer Jennifer Hudson is speaking out for the first time.
During an exclusive interview with ABC 7’s I-Team, William Balfour maintains his innocence despite being sentenced to life in prison for the deaths of three members of Hudson’s family in 2008.
“I didn’t have nothing to do with the case and don’t know who had anything to do with the case,” he said.
The case Balfour is referring to was the triple murder that took place in Hudson’s sister Julia’s home.
Balfour was found guilty of killing Hudson’s mother and brother and abducting her 7-year-old nephew. The child was found shot to death in a stolen SUV. Police say keys to the vehicle were found in Balfour’s pocket and witnesses said they saw Balfour with a distinctive chrome and black pistol like the one used in the murders.
Balfour denies ever having a gun and that witnesses were lying.
He’s currently being detained at Pontiac, Illinois oldest prison, which houses 1,500 of the state’s most violent men.
A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department released the following statement in reference to the case:
“CPD stands firmly behind our investigation which was based exclusively on facts and evidence in this senseless murder.”
