A Houston man is dead in another police involved shooting which comes at the end of a week of nationwide turmoil over the deaths of two Black men at the hands of law enforcement.

KTRK in Houston reports Alva Braziel was killed by police officers early Saturday in an encounter with them in which they say he was found standing in a road with a revolver. Officials say he was ordered to drop the weapon, but instead waved it in the air then pointed it at them, prompting the officers to open fire. He died at the scene.

The Houston Police Department said the officers were wearing body cameras and video was also captured by a nearby gas station. Both officers have been with the force for at least 10 years and are being placed under investigation in accordance with department policy.

The shooting comes after the police shooting deaths of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge, La., and Philando Castile in Falcon Heights, Minn. Those incidents spurred protests in several cities including Dallas in which a gunman shot 12 people including five police officers fatally.
