As far as adoption stories go, there have been bad and good outcomes. For one Bronx teen, the latter is true.

Tyree Grant, 18, moved from one family to another until his parents adopted him when he was 8.

Walter and Theresa Grant knew that Tyree would be a “perfect fit” for their family right away, according to the Huffington Post. For Tyree, the feelings were mutual. “I felt wanted, I felt accepted. There’s no better feeling than that.”

Fast forward 10 years later, and Tyree is graduating from the Bronx School of Law and Finance with an A average. Not only that, but Tyree will also be attending Dickinson College this fall on a full ride scholarship with the help of The Posse Foundation, an organization that focuses on creating college success for urban youth.

Grant credits his success to the constant love and support he received from his family: “I was able to move through all the distractions and still come out on top.”

Grant plans to study law and policy with a minor in philosophy while at Dickinson in the fall. We wish him all the best!
