Happy Headline: The ‘Magic’ of Magic Johnson

It is no secret that Earvin “Magic” Johnson has a heart for giving back, providing opportunities and supporting youth.

Once again, he’s investing in the future by joining partners Mark and Kimbra Walter in gifting $10 million to One Summer Chicago Plus, a job program dedicated to keeping at-risk youth safe during the summer months when violence tends to spike.

The generous, two-year, investment will aide in expanding the Windy city program by providing 5,000 summer jobs for young people. The City of Chicago will also contribute $6 million during the same time frame, reports the Chicago Sun Times.

Johnson is not new to supporting Chicago’s youth. In 2013, the NBA Hall-of-Famer launched the Chicago branch of the Magic Johnson Bridgescape Academy which provides students with options to complete their education and acquire goals.
