Teens Allegedly Rob and Kill Good Samaritan

Two teens are currently facing murder charges for fatally shooting a man after he helped pull their truck out of a ditch.

According to North Charleston police spokesperson Spencer Pryor, Deon Antonio, 17, and Michael Odell Anthony Dupree-Tyler, 19, robbed and shot Chadwick Garrett, a 45-year-0ld North Charleston resident, after he assisted them in hauling their Dodge Durango to safety.

A Charleston County Coroners Officer recently identified Garrett as the victim who died at 11:35 p.m.

Investigators arrested both Frasier and Dupree-Tyler at Ashley River Apartments, located approximately six miles away from the scene. Police records show they were booked at a local precinct early Tuesday.

Both suspects are scheduled to appear in court for a new bond hearing on Tuesday, reports the Post and Courier.

Additionally, Frasier has been charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. He has another case pending for possession of a stolen vehicle, which he was out on $10,000 bond at the time of incident.

According to Charleston County jail officials, Dupree-Tyler has been booked eight times before. Previous charges include possession of marijuana and crack cocaine, trespassing and second-degree burglary.

Garrett’s death marks the 21st reported homicide for North Charleston this year.
