Getting Drunk With Bae Could Make Your Relationship Last Longer
Who doesn’t love a good happy hour or drinking cocktails while catching up with friends? Alcohol is how many people socialize and according to a new study, it can make a marriage happier and last longer.
A study published in the Journals of Gerontology: Psychology Sciences, found that couples who drank together stayed together longer. A Reuters report surveyed 3, 000 couples who had been married an average 33 years, and researchers found the couples who drank together were better off than those marriages where only one partner drank.
It was also found that the couple where one person does all the drinking was prone to marital problems. This was especially true when the woman was doing all the drinking and the husband was sober.
The study also found couples maintained healthy relationships if both of them didn’t drink.
The author of the study, Dr. Kira Birditt of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor told Reuters, “We’re not sure why this is happening, but it could be that couples that do more leisure time activities together have better marital quality.”
Cheers to being drunk in love!
