Freddie Gray: Jury Selection Enters 2nd Day

Jury selection has entered its second day in the trial of William Porter, one of six Baltimore police officers charged in the death of a 25-year-old Black man who died in April while in police custody.

Baltimore Circuit Court Judge Barry Williams will bring a second set of about 75 prospective jurors in Tuesday after questioning a group of similar size the day before.

Some members from both groups will be brought back Wednesday, according to Court spokeswoman Terri Charles.

Porter is charged with manslaughter, misconduct in office, reckless endangerment and assault.

Gray died of a critical spine injury he suffered while in the back of a police van on April 12.

His death, which prompted widespread protests and rioting, called mass attention to the use of excessive force by police in the country.
