Fort Myers: Another Site for Mass Shooting
CBS Fort Myers affiliate WINK-TV reports there was a mass shooting during a party for teenagers at a Florida nightclub early Monday morning.
At least two people were killed and nearly 20 total were injured during Club Blu’s “Swimsuit Glow Party” for teens. Victims in the shooting range in age from 12 to 27, officials said.
Yahoo News reports that 14-year-old Sean Achilles and 18-year-old Ste’fan Strawder were killed. Three persons of interest are currently in custody.
Club owners posted a statement on Facebook about the incident.
According to officials, three suspects were detained in connection to the incident. It is not being treated as an act of terror and there’s no known motive. The incident tragically follows a trail of recent shootings including Pulse Nightclub in Orlando, Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, Baton Rogue and Dallas.
Last week at the NAACP Convention, Hillary Clinton condemned the shootings. In her address, she promised that reforming the country’s criminal justice system will be treated as a top priority if elected president.
