Florida Teen Offered 150 Scholarships

Hard work pays off and a Florida teen has plenty to be thankful for!

Chad Thomas, a senior at Booker T. Washington High School in Miami, has received 150 scholarship options thanks to his dual talents in football and music.

According to 10 News Tampa Bay, Thomas fell in love with music at the age of 3 while listening to his now deceased grandmother’s gospel CDs. His grandmother later bought him a guitar and signed him up for piano lessons. By the time he was 5-years-old, Thomas was performing.

Currently, Thomas plays nine instruments including the piano, trombone, euphonium (a small tuba), bass guitar, regular guitar, snare, tuba, trumpet and drums.

But his talent doesn’t stop there. Thomas led the Booker T. Tornados to back-to-back state championship,s as well as a national title. He plans to attend the University of Miami to continue playing football, but will also study music technology at the Frost School of Music.

The 18-year-old says he wouldn’t mind playing for the NFL, but when it comes down to it, music comes first.

“So if I make it to the NFL that would be a blessing for me,” said Thomas. “I have love for music and took it upon myself to learn and play the instruments I hear in the songs.”

Congratulations and we wish you all the best!
