Own a Low Power Radio Station

As a result of a groundbreaking act that President Obama signed into law in 2010, the FCC is providing non-profits nationwide with a unique opportunity to impact their communities over the airwaves. From Oct. 15-29, license applications to run low power FM radio stations will be accepted. The opportunity only applies to local, nonprofit educational entities, tribes, and public safety organizations. Although individuals or commercial operations are barred from applying, the opportunity for there to be more Black-owned stations, limited to a 3.5 mile radius, is still a major plus.
