Family of Walter Scott Meet Witness Who Captured Video
This video is truly touching.
Feidin Santana, the lone witness who captured the fatal shooting of Walter Scott on his cell phone by former South Carolina police officer Michael Slager, met with Scott’s family in their South Carolina home on Thursday.
Originally, Santana recorded the incident and immediately contacted the family so they could see the footage. It was later released to the public, having gone viral in a matter of minutes.
Scott’s mother was the first to embrace Santana when he walked in the door. She sobbed, thanking God for the man and his good deeds. The rest of the family shared warm exchanges with the witness, and thanked him for having the courage to do what he did.
In the video released by NBC, Santana explained his reasoning for coming forward.
“For myself as a person and for them as a family, I know if I had been in a situation and they were the ones who witnessed it, I’m sure they would look for justice also,” said Santana.
Without Santana, the family could have been blindsided to what actually happened to their loved one.
Kudos to this brave soul for coming forward.
