Family of Tamir Rice Calls Out Prosecutor
The family of a 12-year-old Ohio boy fatally gunned down by Cleveland police is again asking for a prosecutor to publicly say if he plans to request that grand jurors charge officers in the death.
Attorneys for Tamir Rice’s family renewed their calls for Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Timothy J. McGinty to publicize his recommendation before telling the grand jury.
In a letter, the family said McGinty should disclose his decision in an effort to be “transparent” about his plans for the case. McGinty’s office is currently presenting evidence in the Nov. 2014 shooting to a grand jury.
