Racist Emails Sent to Ebenezer Baptist Church

The historic Ebenezer Baptist Church has been receiving a series of racially charged emails, according to the Atlanta Journal Constitution.

A spokesman for the Atlanta Police Department said detectives “are aware of the incident and are looking into it.”

At least one email calls out the church and its pastor for focusing on the Confederate flag and not Black crime.

Church surveillance footage shows two men placing Confederate flags at Ebenezer and Martin Luther King, Jr. National Historic Site on July 30.

Rev. Raphael Warnock called the act “terroristic,” and the local NAACP and SCLC have called on Gov. Nathan Deal to remove the “symbols of hate” from government property.

Investigators are still looking into who committed the acts and their motives.
