DMX, Zimmerman Boxing Match Canceled

Former neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman will take on rapper DMX in a "celebrity" boxing match.

The so-called “celebrity” boxing match between George Zimmerman and DMX is off.

The fight’s promoter, Damon Feldman, officially canceled the fight on Saturday, February 8, via a Twitter announcement: “The George Zimmerman fight is canceled I’m sorry for anyone I hurt with this but this was a very big opportunity thank you.”

The match between the former neighborhood watch volunteer acquitted of murdering 17-year-old Trayvon Martin and the troubled rapper was announced last Wednesday, on what would have been Trayvon’s 19th birthday.

While the fight was reportedly unconfirmed by DMX, the announcement sparked outrage across the country and prompted many people to start petitions to end the fight.

Feldman is expected to address the reasons for canceling the event during a press conference on Tuesday.
