Student Fatally Stabbed At Cornell University

Police are currently investigating a huge brawl on the campus of Cornell University that left an Ithaca College student dead and another student injured.

They are asking witnesses with any video footage capturing the incident to come forward, reports CBS News.

Both students were brutally stabbed around 2 a.m. Sunday during a fight involving several hundred college students that attended an organized event at Cornell student.

The slain student was identified as 19-year-old sophomore Anthony Nazaire. The Brooklyn native was studying Business Administration.

Ithaca College President Tom Rochon reflected on Nazaire’s accomplishments and asked for condolences to be sent to his family.

“He graduated from Brooklyn Theater Arts High School, and at IC he was a member of the executive board of Brothers4Brothers, a student organization dedicated to empowering men of color on our campus,” Rochon. “I ask that you keep Anthony’s family, the student who was injured, and their friends and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.”

Although police are not able to identify any suspects in the incident, they are still interviewing witnesses and believe that someone captured the stabbing on video. The other wounded student was treated at a hospital and released.

Both schools are offering counseling services to students, faculty and staff.

“I hope they get caught and justice is done. I didn’t send my son to school to get murdered,” Nazaire’s mother, Katia Toussaint said.
