Cornell University police arrested a member of the school’s Men’s Basketball team on charges of rape, sexual assault and strangulation.
CUPD charged 19-year-old Xavier Eaglin with first-degree rape, three counts of first-degree criminal sexual assault and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation.
Before attending Cornell, Eaglin was named District Player of the Year as a senior at Dayton High School in Texas. He was charged with four Class B felonies and one Class A misdemeanor.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Friday, according to CUPD. Eaglin was remanded to the Tompkins County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
