Senator Tim Kaine, who spoke first said he was “proud of Hillary Clinton because she has been and is a great history maker.”
The Democratic vice-presidential nominee pointed to her long career of public service, The New York Times reports.
As she wiped tears from her eyes, Mrs. Clinton, thanked her supporters.
“Thank you, my friends, thank you very much for being here. I love you all too.”

“I hope that he will be a successful president for all Americans.[…] “We owe him an open mind and a chance to lead,” she said.
Clinton expressed regret that she did not shatter the glass ceiling by becoming the first woman president of the United States, but said, “Someday, someone will and hopefully sooner than we might think right now.”
