CLEVELAND (AP) — Cleveland’s transit agency has fired a bus driver who punched a female passenger during a September altercation that was captured on video.

RTA driver Artis Hughes was charged with assault following the incident with Cleveland woman Shi Dea Lane, who was charged with disorderly conduct. A video posted on YouTube showed Lane and Hughes arguing before the driver got out of his seat and punched her.

The RTA suspended Hughes without pay in mid-October

In explaining the decision to let Hughes go, the transit agency cited policies involving the use of force against a member of the public.
