Bowie State University Student Fatally Stabbed by Member of ‘Alt-Reich Nation’

Early Saturday morning around 3 AM on the campus of University of Maryland, Bowie State University student, Richard Collins III, 22, was fatally stabbed by Sean Urbanski, 23. The attack was completely random and unprovoked.

Collins was visiting friends on the University of Maryland’s campus and was waiting at the university’s bus stop for an Uber. While waiting, they heard Urbanski, who is a student at the university, screaming at them. Collins III and friends watched as Urbanski approached them and he reportedly said, “Step left, step left if you know what’s best for you.” Collins III said, “No,” and Urbanski stabbed him once in the chest.

Collins III was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Urbanski was arrested at the scene and is being charged with first and second- degree murder.

Collins III was set to graduate on Tuesday with a degree in Business Administration. He was recently commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.

At a news conference on Saturday afternoon, University of Maryland Police Chief David Mitchell said, “It never gets any worse than this. When I sat with the victim’s father, who is a military veteran, and his pastor and we shed tears together … I can tell you, it rips your heart out.”

The FBI is investigating this killing as a hate crime because Urbanski was a member of the ‘Alt-Reich Nation’ Facebook group.

“When I look at the information that’s contained on that website, suffice it to say that it’s despicable, it shows extreme bias against women, Latinos, persons of Jewish faith and especially African-Americans,” said Mitchell.

Artie Lee Travis, Bowie State’s Vice President for Student Affairs, told the ‘Baltimore Sun,’ “We are looking forward to the quickest investigation as possible. Hate has no place in America. Hate has no place on a college campus where young minds are coming together to try to change the world.”
