At Least 16 Wounded in New Orleans Shooting

The scene was described as “chaotic” after a shooting broke out in New Orleans, Sunday night.

At least 16 people were shot as gunfire broke loose at Bunny Friend Park in the Upper Ninth Ward while approximately 500 people were gathered for an impromptu music video shoot, reports USA Today.

The shooting took place as the Nine-Times Social and Pleasure Club hosted its second-line parade, a cultural staple in New Orleans, about two blocks away from the volatile scene.

According to USA Today, Police spokesman Tyler Gable told The Associated Press that police were in route to break up the crowd when gunfire erupted in the park.

A report from The Times-Picayune stated the aftermath left “several people lying around the park’s main building and hats and possessions were scattered around the playground.”

Victims have been listed in stable condition. Authorities are currently on a manhunt across New Orleans.
