Angela Rye Is Not Here For It

CNN political correspondent Angela Rye has been making the viral rounds on social media today, after a clip of her rolling her eyes while discussing Hillary Clinton’s historic nomination surfaced.

The clip shows Rye expressing her dismay for commentary made by the very conservative Kayleigh McEnany, who labeled Clinton’s role as Secretary of State as a “change maker for the worse.”

When asked about Clinton’s significant involvement in improving higher education and better health care for children, McEnany retorted, “Donald Trump has done great things in his private time, too.”

That’s when the magnificent moment of shade descended upon us all:

In an phone interview with The Cut, Angela revealed that being invited to sit on any DNC panel was a huge accomplishment for her.

“For me yesterday, it was such a historic moment. Regardless of whether you’re with Hill or feeling the Bern, we had to appreciate the magnitude of that moment,” she said.

Like a true boss, Rye doesn’t have much energy or time to address naysayers or people who found her moment childish.

“They can tell that to my face,” she said. “My friends have been making fun of me for years. I don’t have the poker face to pretend.”

Despite the visible tension between the two hosts, Rye denied any bad blood.

“Kayleigh is someone I consider a friend, we get along very well off-air. And I absolutely believe that Kayleigh wholeheartedly believes the things she says,” she said. “There’s nothing new under the sun. We talk about the same things all the time on air.”
