Ahmed Mohamed aka ‘Clock Boy’ Seeking Damages
Attorneys for the 14-year-old Muslim boy arrested for bringing a homemade clock to his Texas school say he was publicly mistreated, The Guardian reports.
As a result of Ahmed Mohamed’s arrest, they are seeking $15 million. Lawyers representing the teen and his family are seeking $10 million from the city of Irving and $5 million from the Irving Independent School District.
Attorneys are also seeking written apologies. In September, Ahmed who is an honors student, took his clock to school to show his teachers. An educator thought it was a bomb and Mohamed was arrested, but never charged. He was also suspended from school.
The family accepted the Qatar Foundation’s offer to pay for Ahmed’s education in Qatar and has since moved to the country.
