Action Item: MoveOn Members Protest Low Wages

Members of the civic campaign MoveOn are teaming up across the country this week to protest McDonald’s restaurants in five cities.

On Wednesday, December 4, petitioners will gather in Seattle, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles, and Chicago to demand higher wages for fast food workers.

Recent reports show about 52 percent of fast food employees have to rely on public assistance and that these low wage jobs actually are costing taxpayers $7 billion a year while McDonald’s is reporting profits of $5.5 billion, according to MoveOn.org.
