Vince Staples was on Late Night TV ballin’ on Monday (August 7). Following his performance of “Love Can Be..” with Ray J, Kilo Kish and Damon Albarn on The Tonight Show, the highly personable emcee continues to campaign for his recently released sophomore album Big Fish Theory (Def Jam Records). Accompanied by Juicy J, Staples hit the Jimmy Kimmel Live! stage to perform “Big Fish” in front of a parking lot full of fans.
Donning a bright orange hoodie, Vince Staples maneuvered through the heavy fog on stage and moved the Late Night crowd to the sounds of his new LP’s uptempo title track. In addition to the bright lights and smoke machines, Sir Juice of the J adding a little extra production value by picking up the “The Money Phone” (Sorry, Hov. *Kanye shrug*) and proceeding to make it precipitate dead presidents on the first few rows of fans.
Since the release of Big Fish Theory, Vince Staples is swimming through Summer ’17 in good form. Along with his Late Night TV performances, the rapper is getting more mainstream shine thanks to being selected for Sprite’s Summer Cold Lyrics Series and staring a new humorous TV spot for the soda company. The West Coast wordsmith is also rocking stages across the country this summer while on tour with Gorillaz.
Staples’ Big Fish Theory features guest appearances by Kendrick Lamar, A$AP Rocky, Ty Dolla $ign, Flume and Justin Vernon of Bon Iver. The rapper has already released a few cinematic videos off of the project, including “Rain Come Down” featuring Ty Dolla Sign.
