This Iconic Mariah Carey Song Is Becoming A Movie!

Mariah Carey’s iconic Christmas classic, “All I Want For Christmas” is becoming an animated feature film, and it sounds ridiculously adorable.

The self-proclaimed Empress of Christmas is taking her 1994 classic and revamping it for a 21st-century audience. The film expands on Carey’s 2015 children’s book of the same name, and it looks like production is already well underway.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Emancipation of Mimi songstress will be narrating the film which will follow a young Mariah (Breanna Yde), who is desperately trying to convince her parents to buy her a puppy for Christmas. However, in order to prove to her parents that she is responsible enough for a pet, young Mariah must dog-sit a rambunctious puppy who turns the family’s holiday festivities into a chaotic mess.

Mariah Carey will be executive producing the film and actors Henry Winkler, Lacey Chabert, Laya Hayes and Keiko Agena will be lending their voices to the movie. In a statement, Carey expressed her enthusiasm about the project saying, “I am thrilled to be able to bring the story of the song to new generations of families.”

Mariah Carey’s “All I Want For Christmas” is still one of her best-selling singles of all time with over 14 million records sold. Also, the book on which this new film is based has sold an impressive 750,000 + copies to date.

There is no word yet on the release date, but we would assume that considering the theme of the film, it will be released in fall or winter of this year. Are the holidays here yet? We’re actually kind of excited about this cute flick. It can be rotated into our holiday movie marathon which includes The Preacher’s Wife, Home Alone, and This Christmas.
