‘Teenage Emotions’ Gets the Representation it Needs With Lil Yachyt’s Debut
The King of Teens aka Lil Yachty debut album Teenage Emotions has finally dropped.
Jam-packed with 21 tracks, the project features appearances from Migos, Diplo, Sonyae Elise, YG, and Kamaiyah. Akin to the title, Yachty is introspective and speaks to the teenager experience while maneuvering through modern-day life. “[Teenage Emotions] caters to a teenager’s everyday lifestyle-heartbreak,” said Yachty. “Happiness, that vibe when you waking up in the morning getting dressed and you just wanna dance.”
And although he’s pretty excited to share the project, it wasn’t as pleasurable to complete it. “There was so much pressure in the beginning,” he said in an interview via Beats 1. “This is what I had to learn and I know I’ll be much smoother on my next album. When I made Lil Boat, my first mixtape, I didn’t have a drop date, a due date. I didn’t have critics rating it. I was just making it. And then when I finished it, I dropped it at my own smoothness, at my own pace…I didn’t even know I was gonna make an album like this. My only goal [now] is to impress my fans.”
