Solange & Kendrick Lamar are Top-Tier Inspiration for Bryson Tiller
Muses definitely help you secure the bag.
After dropping three new songs last week and sharing the release date to his sophomore album, True to Self, Bryson Tiller called into Hot 97’s “Ebro in the Morning” to get a few things off his chest.
The interview covered a few topics, one being new music that has inspired the Louisville native lately. Tiller did not hesitate to acknowledge Solange’s A Seat at the Table and Kendrick Lamar’s DAMN. “Solange’s album, I love it so much,” he shared. “Solange’s album and Kendrick Lamar’s album as well. It’s amazing.”
He also mentioned Sia, and how her mystique has attributed to his lowkey profile. “I’m really inspired by the artist Sia,” he mused. “I love how nobody’s ever seen what she looks like. Well, people know what she looks like, but I wish I could be that, just like a shadowy figure.”
Expanding on one of the three songs he dropped last week, “Somethin Tells Me,” (which I have to admit, is growing on me) he reveals it’s connection to true life events. “One day, somebody that I love, I was trying to go upstairs and talk to them,” he stated. “And they were being kind of cold to me. I was like, ‘Damn. What’s the issue? Is it because I’m on the road, because I’m doing music, because I’m in music videos with all of these girls or whatever?’ I was feeling bad so I just went in the studio and made that song.”
True to Self drops June 23rd, will you be on the look out? Check out the interview below.
