Remix Treatment: Khalid taps GoldLink for “Let’s Go” off of ‘American Teen’

Following the release of  American Teen, Khalid shares a fresh take on “Let Go.”

Khalid is relatively new to the game, only graduating High School school last spring. While shooting his shot for his chance at Prom King at his El Paso alma mater, he attempted the same with his music career posting his now smash hit “Location” to SoundCloud. Fortunately, he won Prom King and a whole lot more, racking up more than 47 million streams on Spotify and snagging a deal with RCA.

“Location” soon received the remix treatment from the likes of Kehlani and Lil Wayne, and D.C.’s wordsmith GoldLink follows suit adding his trademark flow to “Let Go.” He kicks off the song with an energetic swagger, sharing his thoughts on his steady rise to fame and the people who chose to leave him behind. Khalid then joins in with his smooth vocals reflecting on the freedoms that comes with going where the wind takes you.

A voice for the youth, the 19-year-old singer has no qualms with being the spokesperson for millennials, “We forget that when you grow up, there are a lot of people who are in the same position as you,” he shared with Entertainment Weekly. “The reason we forget is because there’s not really a true voice that talks from the perspective of youth.”
