RAY Blk is Empowering in Her Latest “Doing Me” [STREAM]
Rising U.K. artist RAY BLK returns with another anthem fitting for an Instagram caption king. “Doing Me” is all about feeling yourself and ignoring the opinions of the naysayers or anyone else for that matter. “My dressing is expression so don’t judge me by my clothes,” she raps. This summer playlist contender is a follow up to visual to “Patience,” which she dropped earlier this year.
BLK supports the importance of self love, sticking to your guns and trusting the journey in a visual set in a beauty shop, which often functions as a safe space for Black women to share testimonies and wisdom. “We wanted to do something natural, something everyday that people could relate to which is a conversation in the hair salon,” BLK shared with THE FADER over email. “I wanted it to feel like I’m talking to whoever is watching so they really hear the message.”
“Slow and steady wins the race,” she croons. Check out the “Doing Me” audio clip above and revisit her “Patience” video below.
