Miguel and Wale Cover Elton John

Miguel has teamed up with Wale for a remake of Elton John’s 1970s classic, “Bennie & the Jets.” The single is a part of a 40th anniversary release of the English-crooner’s 1973 album, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.

Unfortunately, the audio of the remake been recently removed due to a DCA complaint; however, the re-release of Elton’s album is expected to drop on March 25 and will feature additional covers from Emeli Sande, Ed Sheeran and Fall Out Boy. A live album, a 100-page illustrated book and a DVD of the album’s film adaptation will also be included in the anniversary pack for fans to enjoy.

This Wale and Miguel collaboration may be the start of something new for Sir Elton John. Though he’s worked with Eminem in the past, in an interview with Rolling Stone, he expressed his desire to continue to incorporate hip-hop into his music.

“I’d love to,” he said. “I just don’t know how to do it. I do love electronica. So, for me, I’d have to work with someone who knows about it, like a Pharrell or a Kanye, who I respect tremendously. I’d love to do that. It’s just a matter of when and where and, should I do it, the mood that I’m in. You can never tell. It’s happenstance and luck, basically.”
