Kendrick Lamar Nabs 14 BET Noms
Kendrick Lamar, who has been labeled by many as the Savior of Rap, has been nominated for 14 BET Hip-Hop Awards, the most out of any artist for the eighth annual awards show.
Last year, Lamar won BET’s Lyricist of the Year and his album, “good kid, m.A.A.d city,” recently sold more than 1 million units, according to the Associated Press.
This year, he’s nominated for Lyricist of the Year again, Best Hip Hop Video and Best Live Performer among other categories.
Earlier this month, the Compton rapper called out a slew of his contemporaries on his guest verse in Big Sean’s “Control.”
Interestingly enough, not far behind K-Dot are his fellow rappers/frenemies Drake, who received 13 nominations, and J. Cole, who received 10 nominations.
The 2013 BET Hip-Hop Awards will be taped Sept. 28 at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center and air Oct. 15. Snopp Dogg is expected to host.
