Happy Prince Day: In Celebration of The Purple One
The Purple One, The High Priest of Pop, and The King of Shade are just a few names adorned by Prince Rogers Nelson as there is no one way to adequately describe The Beautiful One. His passing left the world devoid of a rhythm magician and a musical genius but today, we celebrate his legacy. June 7th would have been Prince’s 59th year around the sun and fans took to twitter to commemorate the second occasion of his birthday since his passing last spring.
Prince famously didn’t celebrate birthdays, however, it would be remiss of us to follow suit. Sharing their favorite gifs, songs, memories and lyrics under the hashtag #PrinceDay, the internet unites in remembrance of the musical force.
Today's is the birthday of Prince and for some insane reason schools are open. Damn you President Trump. pic.twitter.com/A1Tm83MpsO

Additionally, the late musician’s sister Tyka Nelson released a music video for her song “End of the Road,” which follows her and her brother’s early life together. “After Prince passed I wanted to give him one final birthday present and I decided to fulfill his wish, and record this song at Paisley Park,” she shared with Entertainment Weekly in regards to his home and studio in Minnesota. “This song poses the question ‘is this the End of The Road?’ and my answer is I don’t think so! I will see all three of my beautiful family members someday again.”
Although these moments in time hold little weight in comparison to the legend himself, they serve as simple reminders of his legacy, inherent talent and expansive influence. Check out the clip above.
