Chance The Rapper and Kaytranda Finally Let Us In on A Little Secret
An unreleased gem made it to the airwaves yesterday.
Kaytranda premiered an unreleased collaboration with Chance The Rapper as a special guest on Pharrell and Scott Vener’s OTHERtone radio show yesterday.
Created during the early stages of what would be Chance’s Coloring Book, “And They Say” has been around for quite some time. Although missing the final cut, Chance alerted fans of it’s existence, performing the Kaytranda production two years ago during a live show ahead of his third release.
Unfortunately, there’s no immediate plans for the track to drop officially, however the Montreal producer gave the okay to go have fun with it. “I still don’t have the full version of the song but go ahead and rip it from the mix or something,” reads a tweet that has since been deleted.
The track provided a reflective rags-to-riches anecdote from Chance, “We out in the ‘burbs,” he raps. “Out of the streets, we was out on the curb / From out of the dirt, a mountain emerged.” he raps. He also gives a nod to his father who worked for President Obama, “My pop’s in the mirror, Mufasa is in me,” he raps. “I know my daddy, you can tell when I speak, I got his name.”
