Syd Makes her U.K. Debut on ‘Later… with Jools Holland’

Syd, The Internet’s front-woman and upcoming vocalist made her debut on U.K. television last night.

Joined on stage by her band mates, Steve Lacy and Matt Martians, she performed “All About Me,” a solo single from her Fin debut on the BBC show Later… with Jools Holland. Adorning a simple Internet white tee and a red head band, Syd owned the stage during her performance. Staring at the camera head on, she intimately connecting with not only the audience but the viewers as well.

Syd’s Fin dropped earlier this year in February debuting at No. 11 on Billboard’s Top R&B Albums.

“I think the world is just starting to become ready for this kind of open-mindedness. I’ve written songs about women since I’ve been involved with women, but I do know a few gay female artists who back in the day would write songs about men,” she said about the album to NME. “One of my old friends, she was a rapper and she rapped about men and being involved with men. I think I asked her one time, ‘Aren’t you gay?’ She was like, ‘Yeah, but all my friends are straight – I make music for them to ‘enjoy.’ I thought that was really interesting. But for me, I make music for myself to enjoy.”
