New Gadgets Expected at October 23 Apple Event
Apple Inc will host an event on Tuesday, October 23 where at least one new gadget is expected to be unveiled. According to Reuters, Apple may release an iPad mini, while other techies are speculating that a 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display will also make its debut.
The iPad Mini is said to be competition for Amazon’s Kindle Fire HD Tablet and Google’s Nexus 7. The latter devices have 7-inch screens and sell for $199. Reuters says they have a source that claims that the iPad is real.
“We actually had the opportunity to play with a pilot iPad Mini used by one of the vendors,” Topeka Capital analyst Brian White told the outlet. “This 7.85-inch iPad Mini fit our hands like a glove and we were easily able to tuck the device in our sport coat, offering consumers a more mobile iPad experience for certain use cases.”
As far as the MacBook, if unveiled, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display will be joining the 15.4-inch model that was released in June at the Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC). The laptop will include the same high resolution screen as its 15.4 inch predecessor, but will be feature a lighter body and lower price according to The LA Times.
Apple hasn’t released an official statement confirming nor denying these speculated releases but Wall Street analysts have surmised in the past that Apple was planning a smaller, less costly version of the iPad.
It’s getting close to the holiday shopping rush, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if these new devises are revealed at the October 23 event.
