Just when we thought everybody was over the twerking trend, it’s come back into the workout sphere. Jennifer Johnson is the fitness trainer that is bringing twerking back onto our timeline. Her Twerk After Work classes is held at Bandier Flatiron studios. The high-impact dance arrangement is an hour with both strength training and twerking. The workouts burn anywhere between 800-1300 calories per hour depending on your intensity and weight. One of the most popular warmups in the class is called booty pop squat.

Celebrities like Jenna Dewan, Tracee Ellis Ross, Nicole Scherzinger, and Hannah Bronfman have all take Johnson’s Twerk After Work Class. The temperature in the studio stays at about 83 degrees to keep muscles more flexible and less likely to injure in the 60-90 minute workout. The class philosophy is to add a little sass to usual fitness classes, so every box jump also finishes off with a twerk. “These are moves to take to the club afterward,” Johnson told The Los Angeles Times.
