After consuming a popsicle, popcorn and TWO slices of pizza following a cardio class earlier this week (and seeing the “results” on the scale the next day), I began to question my eating habits.

I’ve never been one to diet. In fact, I may or may not have humble-bragged about my ability to “eat whatever I want” and “just work out.” Well, it looks like that mentality is catching up to me (either that, or my metabolism is starting to slow down).

Either way, with a tropical vacation in my near future and wedding day just months aways, I decided it was time to for a change. Following a coworker’s recommendation, I downloaded the My Fitness Pal app and let me tell you, I’m already addicted.

I’ve tried keeping a handwritten food journal before, but it never lasted very long. This app helps you keep track of what you’re eating and the calorie content … for FREE! Plus, there’s a handy scanner feature that lets you scan the barcode of your favorite food products and upload the nutritional value. And that double venti latte from Starbucks? Yup, you can upload that, too, thanks to the app’s nutritional database. So there are NO excuses!

Better yet, My Fitness Pal breaks down the calories you’ve eaten into carbs (aka my worst enemy), fat and protein. My Fitness Pal is a good fit for me because it makes me aware of what I’m eating and helps me choose healthier options. Best of all, it’s NOT a diet!

Simply create an account, add your height and weight, plus your weight goal (whether you’re looking to lose, maintain or gain) and you’re good to go! Plus, you can follow your friends who use it as well and motivate each other to complete your fitness goals.

So if you’re looking for an easy, and dare I say it, fun, way to get fit, check out this app! And if you’re already on My Fitness Pal, follow me at @lorealkt!
