For Rihanna’s Spring 2017 collection for Puma is not just about the award-winning footwear she created for the guys and dolls. In her next level collection, the iconic singer and fashion influencer has designed a collection heavily inspired by Marie Antoinette, pink, satin with athleisure in mind. Her inspiration starting point was the Palace of Versailles, the Disneyland of luxury. Originally debuting this collection in Paris, overly styled models in pink and green strutted down the intimate runway, in fur, satin, pleats, thick velvet chokers, who would have though Puma’s second awakening could be beautiful and very French? From Rihanna’s ideal of couture, the clothes are ready to wear, street friendly thanks to the collection’s baggy jumpsuits and parachute pants, which is surprisingly very high-end. We get lots of trendy pieces, like satin lace-up bustier, to textured dad hats, silk pleated skirts and unconventional windbreaker jackets decorated with intricate Chinese floral prints. You can wear one-off pieces by themselves, and mix and match them with other parts of your wardrobe, and this is the essence of why Rihanna is winning so hard when it comes to presenting a cohesive high fashion line with a traditional streetwear brand. Rihanna’s collection is truly a work of street art.
