Rep. Waters’ ‘Reclaiming My Time’ Now A Gospel Song

WASHINGTON - AUGUST 13: Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) holds a news conference to challenge the charges made against her by the House of Representatives ethics committee at the U.S. Capitol August 13, 2010 in Washington, DC. The House Committee on Standards of Official Conduct said it found sufficient evidence that Waters' chief of staff, her grandson Mikael Moore, granted "special favors" to a struggling Massachusetts-based bank in which her husband owned stock. A singer inspired by last week’s showdown between Rep. Maxine Waters and Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin has created a Gospel song out of the commonly used phrase, “Reclaiming my time.”

Waters confronted Mnuchin with a procedural interruption after asking him why his office had yet to respond to a May 2017 inquiry sent by her office regarding President Trump’s financial ties to Russian banks.

Instead of going straight to the answer, Mnuchin decided to pay Waters with a few compliments. In other words, he was stalling.

So in good ole’ Maxine Waters fashion, the politician opted to in fact, “reclaim her time.”

“We don’t want to take my time up with how great I am,” Waters said. When Mnuchin insisted he had been attempting to answer the question, Waters continued to press him to actually do so, repeating the “reclaiming my time” phrase.

Now, because the internet is what it is, a song has been created as a result of the incident.

And it is pretty damn good actually. Mykal Kilgore, who has quite the heavenly voice might I add, took to YouTube and posted a video of him singing a gospel song in response to the accidentally hilarious exchange on Saturday.

Another reason why we love the internet.
