Fit Friday: 3 Ways to Survive Mother’s Day Eats
The month of May is always exciting, and the one holiday that many of us celebrate is Mother’s Day. The temptation of food accompanied by the holiday can make you get off track from your fitness and nutritional journey. If you’re worried about not being able to resist temptation, don’t worry. Check out these great tips to help you stay on track for the Mother’s Day Holiday!
1. Breakfast in Bed
Give your favorite girl a special breakfast in bed. Bring breakfast to her with this quick and easy healthy recipe that eliminates the heavy lines around the corner or 3-hr wait times at our favorite restaurants. Every mother needs to be appreciated and shown love even if they’re not on a weight loss journey. This will start your day off right!
Egg White Frittata with Lox and Arugula
Total Time: 18 min
Prep: 6 min
Cook: 12 min
Serves: 4 to 6 people
8 egg whites, room temperature
1/2 cup whipping cream
6 ounces lox, chopped into 1/2 inch pieces
1 lemon, zested
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
2 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
2 tablespoons olive oil
2 packed cups (2 ounces) arugula
1 clove minced garlic
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and place an oven rack in the center. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg whites until fluffy for about 30 seconds. Add the cream, lox, lemon zest, salt and pepper. In a 10-inch, oven-proof, nonstick skillet, heat the oil over medium heat. Add the arugula and garlic. Cook, stirring frequently, until the arugula wilts, about 1 minute. Pour the egg mixture into the pan and stir to combine the ingredients. Cook, without stirring for 4 minutes. Transfer the skillet to the oven and bake until set for about 10 to 12 minutes. Slide the frittata onto a platter. Using a serrated knife, cut the frittata wedges and serve warm or at room temperature.

2. Do an Active Activity Together
Rarely do we choose to enjoy an activity together as a family that will keep us moving and energized for Mother’s Day. Try switching it up a bit by taking your mother for a:
-Walk at the Park
-Fun Bowling Game
Make sure you enjoy yourself and that the activity of choice is fun for all!
3. Do the TBYL Online 30-Minute At Home Workout
Buying a gym membership or nutrition sessions for someone doesn’t always work. Many times these efforts are ignored and sometimes go unappreciated. As a fitness professional, I hear all the time, “I want my mother or daughter to come to you!” Now there’s nothing wrong with recommending that a loved one get fit, however, I know it can become very frustrating at times watching a family member neglect what you just bought them or simply due to a busy schedule, they’re unable to attend. One of the hottest new trends in fitness is online training.
Join my TBYL Online Personal Training and Development Program, where you can commit to a 30-minute workout at your own leisure, anytime and anywhere.
