Beyond the face.
Martinique born Melodie Monrose is a beauty beyond all measures and she’s towering the high fashion runway with ease. She’s the playful island beauty making thousands to wear clothes.
The 25 – year – old French girl got her start at modeling for a Ralph Lauren catalogue. In an interview with WWD, she confessed she had no clue how to pose and had to learn the basic model lingo from photographers in English. Since then, the rest is left for Instagram.
“You kind of stand there and you don’t know what to do. [Photographers] will give you direction. I didn’t speak English, so I had to figure out what “chin down” and “chin up” meant. It was a challenge. You’re just practicing. But I got really lucky. I had one of my first jobs ever for the Ralph Lauren catalogue. My agent was like, “Just watch what the other girls are doing and don’t worry too much.” It wasn’t easy, but I figured it out by just being aware and absorbing my surroundings.”
Since 2010, Melodie has walked for Marc Jacobs, Gucci, Bodega Veneta and Jason Wu to name a few. Her editorial spreads range from high – low brands like Rag & Bone, to luxury brands like Dolce & Gabbana. This girl is killin it either way and has proved that journey to success was not just “typical,” but iconic for many other island gals that came after walk.
Currently, the melanin goddess is either island hopping with her group of besties or working in a bikini. #goals.
