After a particularly stressful week, I decided to catch up on the daily meditation emails from Oprah and Deepak Chopra that have been piling up in my inbox.

Last month, I told you about the duo’s new 21-day meditation experience called “Finding Your Flow,” which launched April 14. Well, I signed up, but I haven’t exactly been keeping up with the daily sessions (apparently, I’m not very good at these daily activities…remember that 30-Day Yoga Challenge I signed up for? Yeah, I only made it to day 15).

There’s no excuse, really. Each meditation session is only about 20 minutes, which sounds easy in theory, but is much harder in practice–which is how I found myself “meditating” on the train to work on more than one occasion. Fact: It’s hard to focus when the overhead speaker announces a stop every few minutes.

Nevertheless, I decided to trudge forth with the mental exercises and, I have to say, they are quite relaxing.

Each meditation contains a central thought, such as “My power and strength are within,” and a mantra, “Om.”

If you’re easily distracted like me, mentally reciting the mantra over and over again can help you focus and relax.

Writing your thoughts and intentions in a journal is also a great way to find clarity. And, let’s be honest, who couldn’t use more of that nowadays?
