Happy Headline: Ford Donates to African American History

The power of philanthropy is enough to make one shed a tear from time-to-time and this is sure to bring a smile to your face and joy to your heart.

Ford Motor Co. has added its brand to the richness of arts and culture by donating $1 million to the Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture in Washington D.C.

Through its philanthropic organization, The Ford Motor Company Fund, the generous donation will go toward funding key programs of the museum.

“Since Henry Ford’s groundbreaking $5 a day wage in 1913, which paid people equally regardless of race, Ford has invested in programs that empower and celebrate the African American community,”  Jim Vella, president of the Ford Motor Company Fund and Community Services, stated in a press release.

The current donation adds to a long-lived relationship between Ford and the Smithsonian. For over 40 years, they have donated a total of $11.5 million toward exhibits and programs that provide educational opportunities for families.
