Happy Headline: Chance The Rapper Gives Back
Chance The Rapper is using his artist platform as a valuable asset to promote education and uplift youth.
Joined by a team of other celebrities, the Chicago-bred emcee helped the Get School organization, celebrate the raising of $100,000 for six Chicago high school and six community based organizations which earned the most points during the inaugural Get School Challenge.
Launched by Bill and Melinda Gates and Viacom, Get Schooled is a non-profit organization that partnered with Internet Essentials and Chicago City of Learning, for the semester long Get Schooled challenge contest which motivated youth 13-19 to prepare for college.
The contest featured various quests from preparing for college entry exams to applying for financial aid. Points were earned by each completed tasks and resulted in valuable prizes such as laptops and gaming systems.
The $100,000 grand prize will be split among the top six schools and six organizations and used to upgrade computer labs, increase Internet and WiFi accessibility, in addition to digital literacy training.
