Fit Friday: Make Your Health A Priority
Years ago, when I decided to embark on the journey to become a health and fitness professional, I was repeatedly adamant about my decision to become a personal trainer. Without hesitation, I always replied “I love it!” On the other hand, whenever I asked my clients about their interest in getting healthy and fit, their response was always less than lukewarm.
It’s never surprising to meet people with less then jovial attitudes when it comes to getting fit, so it’s important to understand why getting healthy is more important than ever.
With the new year approaching, here are 3 reasons why you should “Get with Fit!”
1. Look Great On the Outside, Feel Good on The Inside
People have become more obsessed with how they physically look as opposed to their overall health. If you are not taking care of yourself from the inside out then it doesn’t matter how you look. Schedule a physical with your primary doctor and find out if you are truly healthy as you appear. Looks can be deceiving!
2. Be a Great Example for your Family and Friends
With heart disease being the leading the cause of death among African-Americans, it has become an even greater priority to live a healthy life. In addition, obesity has now become a major issue among adolescents and teens. Incorporating a healthy regimen into your lifestyle encourages discipline as well as the importance of living a healthy yet fruitful life. More importantly, there is no greater foundation than the one you set for your family. Health should be a top priority!
3. Live a Fruitful Life
“Prevention is the best medicine.” Take accountability for the decisions you are making towards your health sooner than later. More people will complain about the cost of a personal trainer and gym membership, but ignore the rising cost of health insurance and health care. While you have the opportunity, get into your healthiest shape now! Living with diabetes is much more uncomfortable than a few days of sore muscles from a workout.
We all have choice on the kind of life we want to live. Choose to live healthy!
